Cliff White's Tech High Record

Met Cliff White today at the Great Plains Black History Museum Exhibit on African Americans in Athletics. In 1972 he set the Orval Smith Field Record for putouts at home base (in Ralston) in a game Omaha Tech High played against Creighton Prep.  His coach was John Morse who also coached Tech High to the Nebraska Class A  State  Baseball Championship in 1966.  Cliff is holding the picture of that team.  Cliff tried out for the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals. He said that Coach John Morse was instrumental in his success.   He recently has a liver transplant so it was terrific to see him out!

He carries the news clipping in his pocket!
